It’s amazing how a different perspective can change your opinion on things. I used to be of the opinion that spiders were no big deal and there was no reason to be afraid of them. Now I realize there is: poison. You see, in Iowa there are very, very few spiders that are poisonous and even those kinds are rare. But I’ve learned that poisonous spiders are fairly well represented in Arkansas and now I find that every web sends chills down my spine.
Now that I perceive the danger of spiders I view them differently. Sin is a lot like that. Often it seems small and harmless and we think that we can easily handle it. It can even look cool and some people want to keep it the way some people have pet tarantulas. But unlike spiders, all sins are full of deadly poison. When people finally recognize their danger they want to avoid them and are instilled with a healthy dose of fear. But thank Heaven because we have a God even more powerful than the Orkin Man!
